Turning 280 billion images into actionable infrastructure insights: Street View Insights is now Generally Available
Last year we announced a new category of imagery datasets called Imagery Insights for AI-powered infrastructure management, that leverage innovation from Google Earth AI. Today, we’re excited to announce that the first dataset, Street View Insights, is now Generally Available. This powerful dataset taps into Google Street View’s vast repository of over 280 billion 360° and 3D images covering infrastructure across 110+ countries. It allows organizations—such as telecommunications providers, utilities, and public works agencies—to reduce costly, time-consuming field surveys and gain actionable infrastructure insights right from their desks. Street View Insights is built to help automate asset management, shift from reactive to proactive maintenance, and make communities safer.
Combined with Vertex AI, Street View Insights can enable organizations to detect and extract insights about specific utility and telecommunications equipment attached to poles, such as transformer models, wireless antennas, and other equipment.

Reduce costs: from manual work to instant insights
Street View Insights makes it possible to remotely inventory and monitor assets at scale. The data connects directly with Google Cloud's BigQuery for advanced spatial analysis and integrates seamlessly with Vertex AI, allowing organizations to bring or train their own models for asset identification and condition monitoring. This capability significantly reduces the time, cost, and expertise traditionally required for infrastructure evaluation.
In addition, organizations can prompt Gemini from the Vertex AI Studio with natural language queries to extract insights much faster than before. Instead of months of manual work for a first-pass analysis, a simple query like “assess the condition of all utility poles in this zip code” can instantly extract relevant details from Street View imagery, dramatically reducing the time, cost, and expertise required to evaluate infrastructure.
