Whether you're moving people and goods, running a service fleet, or driving user conversions inside your app, every physical mile and digital touchpoint counts.
Today we’re excited to launch three new products
-
The Navigation Connect API (Preview) to help you maintain end-to-end driver visibility
-
The Isochrones API (Preview) to map highly accurate, real-world reachability based on actual travel time
-
Places UI Kit Pro (GA for our Android and iOS mobile SDKs, web GA coming this fall) to own your entire user journey end-to-end directly in-app
With these latest offerings, businesses can capture the ground truth of the road and the context of real-world places to reduce failed trips, help minimize cost leakage and maximize conversion rates.
Maintain driver visibility, even when they switch apps
When your drivers switch to consumer navigation apps, you lose the real time data flow your business needs to manage active updates and keep operations on track. Workarounds like background location sharing or stitching together locations and ETA information from different sources can be unreliable.
The Navigation Connect API enables you to refer your drivers into their preferred app, Google Maps or Waze, while continuously getting business-critical trip data like real-time locations, accurate ETAs, and off-track alerts back to your platform. This ensures accurate customer updates and operational efficiency while providing drivers with their navigation app of choice, without losing visibility.
Built for businesses that require visibility without heavy engineering lift, the Navigation Connect API relies on a lightweight Pub/Sub or API integration and empowers fleets to significantly improve their operations in as little as an afternoon, saving substantial integration costs and development time.
Choosing the right tool for your fleet
While the Google Maps Platform Navigation SDK is designed for embedded experiences, offering total UI control and keeping users entirely within your custom application environment, the new Navigation Connect API is ideal for “handoff experiences." It allows you to leverage native consumer apps for faster implementation and driver familiarity while retaining the essential server-side visibility you need to help ensure successful trips and customer satisfaction.
Business critical data with a familiar Google Maps and Waze user experience.
Map true reachability with the Isochrones API
Businesses operating in complex urban environments need boundaries that reflect the actual ground truth of the road network to answer critical questions like, "What is reachable within a 15-minute drive right now?" Relying on simple radius circles often results in inaccurate ETAs and unreliable zone management.
The Isochrones API generates network-aware boundaries to show exactly what is reachable within a specific time window—up to 60 minutes for driving and 120 minutes for walking or cycling, with precision down to the second. Beyond standard routing, you can also calculate reverse isochrones to optimize inbound routing and arrival times (for example, coordinating multiple delivery drivers returning to a central fulfillment hub). By accounting for live traffic, road networks, and different travel modes, you can optimize logistics, confirm service zones based on dynamic ETAs, and improve arrival reliability. Powered by the same robust road network and traffic data that powers Google Maps, the Isochrones API returns standard GeoJSON polygons— making it easy for developers to turn abstract location coordinates into actionable, visual routing decisions.
Optimizing mobility and logistics
The Isochrones API is designed to solve complex routing challenges for fleets and delivery networks:
-
Delivery zone optimization: Define highly efficient service boundaries based on real-time traffic conditions and driver availability.
-
Fleet dispatch and travel: Help drivers identify electric vehicle charging stations or optimal routes that are reachable within a specific driving time.
Broad multi-vertical applications
Beyond logistics, the API helps developers build location-aware experiences for other industries:
-
Real estate exploration: Offer commute-based property searches, helping buyers find homes based on actual travel times to work or schools rather than simple geometric distance.
-
Urban planning: Map accessibility to emergency services, analyze transit coverage, and optimize public transport route placement.
Whether your users are driving, walking, or cycling, the Isochrones API allows them to instantly see everything reachable within their time window, ensuring the most optimal route and the best possible user experience.
Own your user journey end-to-end with the Places UI Kit Pro
Every time a user leaves your app to research a destination or place, you risk losing them. Places UI Kit Pro, available now on mobile with full web availability coming this fall, is a low-code component library that stops this drop-off by bringing rich place data and clear user focused CTA's directly into your app.
You get deep developer customization to build curated carousels, filter reviews and photos by theme (like "vibe" or "food"), and add custom action buttons like "View availability." Give your users the context they need to make decisions without ever leaving your app.
With Places UI Kit Pro, you can provide users the complete context required to take action in-app and own their entire user journey end-to-end.
Keep users in your app with Places UI Kit Pro. Deliver contextual place details in your app so users can complete tasks faster and stay engaged.
