We’re also introducing new ways to help you bring trusted information from Google Maps to your products. In the coming weeks, we’ll launch Grounding Lite globally—a quick, easy and cost-effective way to bring the power of Google Maps to any large language model via Model Context Protocol (MCP). Developers can connect their LLMs to fresh, factual information from Google Maps. For example, a real estate startup with an AI assistant can use Grounding Lite to respond to chat queries such as, "Where can I find rooftop cafés near MG Road?" or "what would my commute to downtown look like if I lived here?" based on trusted information from Google Maps.
To help developers add even more context in their AI responses, today we’re launching Contextual View globally, the first component of the Google Maps AI Kit, a collection of familiar and trusted UI components from Google Maps Platform designed to bring your AI responses to life. With Contextual View, you can now augment your AI responses with stunning interactive visualizations from Google Maps to create more engaging, informative, and helpful experiences. For example, if a user asks an app for things to do in Boston, the app can respond with a list of trails, including a 3D display of the area—helping the user understand the local geography and picture the trip.
