Requests can either be calls to the API, or load events of maps or panoramas. User interactions like zooming or panning are not charged. See Google Maps Platform Billing for more details.

We’re now making it easier than ever to access volume discounts. By making more volume discounts available online, you will automatically see savings as your usage grows. Our online volume discounts will continue to start at 20% for usage above 100K monthly requests for most products, and now for some products you can see discounts up to 4x higher (or 80%) when your usage exceeds 5 million monthly calls.
