    About the research

Google Maps Platform partnered with Oxford Economics, which surveyed 1,000 executives at organizations of varying sizes across countries and industries. The respondent base is represented by organizations from 8 countries, and all organizations had at least $10M in annual revenue.

For the purposes of this research Oxford Economics grouped respondents into 14 industry clusters: accommodation and food services; real estate and rental leasing; administrative and support and waste management and remediation services; finance and insurance, transportation and warehousing; wholesale and retail trade; manufacturing; arts, entertainment, and recreation; agriculture; professional, scientific, and technical services; non-profit; media and entertainment; telecommunications; and software and internet.

About the geospatial services impact calculator

The geospatial services impact calculator is designed for users to select attributes for their organization that mirror the attributes selected by survey participants in the survey administered by Oxford Economics. The calculator then determines the arithmetic average for the matching subsample and returns those results. For the first six results in the “What businesses like yours saw” section of the report, the explorer makes a statistical comparison of geospatial services users against the average for non-users, and reports only those results corresponding to a statistically significant improvement.

Each result estimate in the custom reports corresponds to one question from the survey administered by Oxford Economics. When a user selects a combination of estimator options that reflects an insufficient number of responses for statistical significance, the explorer filters only on the selected industry and use-case and omits the regional selection.

In calculating the results in the “competitive advantage” section and highlighted profitability results in “your custom results” section (when applicable), responses of “neither agree nor disagree” have been excluded.
